While the term pin-up was first used in 1941, the style dates back to the 1890’s. The term pin-up is used because these photographs are meant to be pinned up. Pin-up girls are risque but never explicit; always fiercely independent- remember Rosie the Riveter.
While this style of photography waned a bit in popularity, it never really left. Lately it has again become wildly popular. It certainly is a fun way to spend a few hours. Hair and make-up are done followed by a portrait session. Who wouldn’t want their very own set of photographs emulating strength and sexiness?!
dawn elizabeth photography has paired up with Carmen from Salon 649 and Motives Glam Squad to have day long events where 8 or more girls can enjoy their very own pin-up session. Photographs in this post are from our very first event. Our next will be held on July 19 in Hammonton, NJ. Please call Carmen at 856-343-2178 for information and to schedule your very own session time.
